Secure Innovation have been awarded a grant of £600,000 from Cornwall Council’s Good Growth Programme, which is funded by the UK Government through its Shared Prosperity Fund to improve facilities and promote global growth. The investment is towards an £800,000 project that will enable us to create additional skilled and semi-skilled employment and training opportunities, as well as providing further economic benefits throughout the county through partnerships with other local businesses. The project will also improve our staff welfare facilities, efficiency of operations and environmental impact (as we strive towards net zero emissions).
A Visit from Cornwall Council
We were delighted to meet and introduce Councillor Louis Gardner (Cornwall Council portfolio holder for economy) to Secure Innovation last week. We discussed how the valuable funding would help us reach our goals of global growth over the next few years and how important our Remote Planet project, supported by the ESA is for the growth of both our business and the Cornwall Space and Technology Sector. This has created an opportunity for us to diversify into new markets and generate more skilled engineering jobs and other roles in Cornwall. The new investment will allow us to expand our operations to meet growing global demand for our products and reinvest in the local economy and community.
Net Zero Targets
The funding will also help us achieve net-zero emissions by facilitating the installation of solar energy sources and electric vehicle charging facilities for both staff and visitors. Through the power of green energy, we will significantly enhance our production capacity. This will be achieved through the introduction of an automated stores system and other operational initiatives.
Employee Health & Wellbeing
To further enhance the well-being of our dedicated and valued team, we will also be upgrading our staff welfare facilities including the canteen and social space. The upgrade will also incorporate shower facilities for employees who wish to take advantage of the company’s health and well-being initiatives, including the popular cycle-to-work scheme.
“Secure Innovation has a history of market-leading product design right here in Cornwall, which has made them the best at what they do. Shared Prosperity Fund support via our Good Growth Programme will help catalyse the firm’s growth in global markets, creating skilled, well-paid jobs while helping the business to reduce its carbon footprint and enhance the wellbeing of its employees. That’s what our Good Growth ambitions are all about.”
Cllr Louis Gardner | Cornwall Council portfolio holder for economy
