If you’re in the middle of your undergraduate education looking for a mid-study industrial placement year, or have recently graduated, we could have an opportunity for you. We currently have a graduate career opportunity for a CAD Technician, and an Electronics Development Technician. Both roles are based in Saltash near Plymouth on the border of Cornwall and Devon in the South West of England.

So, what are the industrial placement roles?
Electronics Development Technician – Industrial Placement
As an Electronics Development Technician you will join our multi-disciplined team of 30 engineers, working within our Research Development team, and will report directly to the Development Manager. You will be based in our Head Office in Saltash, Cornwall. The role will require you to interface with other departments, therefore you must be able to communicate information verbally or in writing in a professional manner and create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships. This role offers hands-on electronics experience, and will suit anyone on an electronics course.
The primary role responsibilities include:
Identification, design and verification of alternative electronic components.
Undertake product testing where design enhancements are being introduced.
Provide technical support to operations where required.
Electronic documentation updates.
You will require some experience of having worked with electronics during your studies or other previous work experience. However, this is a developmental role and on the job training will be provided.
CAD Technician – Industrial Placement
As our CAD Technician you will join our multi disciplined team of 30 engineers, working within our Research Development team, and will report directly to the Development Manager. You will be based in our Innovation Centre in our Head Office in Saltash, Cornwall. The role will require you to interface with other departments, therefore you must be able to communicate information verbally or in writing in a professional manner and create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships. You’ll be assisting our Mechanical Design Engineers in CAD changes and supported production documentation, to create, maintain and enhance efficient product processes
The primary role responsibilities include:
Translate Engineering CAD models and drawings for first release of manufacturing build documentation, and update existing build documentation, ensuring DFM.
CAD model changes where required.
Coordinate updates to existing manufacturing documentation incorporating latest processes or techniques.
Liaise with other disciplines during product development phase.
You will require some experience of having worked with CAD software during your studies or other previous work experience. However, this is a developmental role and on the job training will be provided.
